“Welcome to Roatan!” This is a favorite phrase for so many people visiting our beautiful island home, and we are so excited to have you join us on the Jolly Roger tour during your Western Caribbean cruise! Before you arrive, we want to offer a little bit of insight into how our tour operates.

First and foremost, we prioritize your comfort and safety during your visit to Roatan. From the moment we meet you at your cruise ship port until the moment we drop you back at the end of your tour, we are completely focused on your safety.

A major consideration within that focus is the weather and conditions at sea. We will always select the location for our tour based upon the safest and calmest conditions available on the day of your tour.

Because of this, sometimes we will utilize van transportation to quickly bring you to the other side of the island where our waiting catamaran will take you out. Other times, we can leave straight from your port by boat, heading to our snorkel destination by sea. For either case, we do not sail out to the snorkeling destination because we want to ensure you have ample time to explore in the water. While the weather is completely out of our control, we will do everything we can to select the best location for your snorkeling tour.

Another aspect of your tour that isn’t within our control is the timeframe we have away from your cruise ship. Based on this timeframe, we have to decide if current conditions will allow us to sail back toward the docking area during your tour.

We try to sail for at least a portion of every tour, but on a tight cruise ship schedule it is not always possible. Between weather conditions and the schedule we’re given, we do not have the flexibility sailing often requires.

We say this only to inform you prior to your arrival here in Roatan, so that in the event we are unable to sail during your specific tour, you’re not too disappointed. At the very least, we’ll make the effort to hoist the sail for a great photo opportunity, even if we have to motor back to port.

Again, our primary priority is always your safety and comfort, neither of which we can jeopardize simply for a leisurely sail along the coast. Ideally, you’ll fall in love with our beautiful isle and come back for a longer trip next time, giving you ample opportunity to enjoy a full day at sea filled with sunshine and smooth sailing!
